North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting 10.30.2007 7
ENDNOTES
A new diversion stn~cture will be a low-head structure, and they will build the
upstream V out of interloclang concrete blocks, and rebuild another area with native rock
from on-site (sandstone outcropping). Also need to seal the upstream V to get water to
go through the headgate. They will use the rock to create astair-step type structure, and
nui water down the center of the channel. Rock will go on a 10 to 1 slope to reduce
erosion.
They have designed an 8 ft x 2ft orifice to pass the planned 50 cfs. There will also be a
slew structure and a trash rack. They will move the measuring flume back upstream and
put it at the end of the structure.
Channel profile = 20 ft. pools followed by 6 inch lips, to reduce erosion and keep water
in the center of the channel.
~ Observed increase in nuloff quantity due to: 1. reduced canopy interception and
sublimation, 2. Increase in wintertime snow accumulation in cut strips, 3. Decrease in
sununertime evapotranspiration leads to reduced soil moisture depletion, 4. Reduced soil
moisture deficit.
