Sherman <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />COLORADO FLOOD TASK FORCE <br />MARCH 29, 2007 MEETING SUMMARY <br /> <br />Rod Kuharich <br />CWCB Director <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />This report is a meeting summary of the March 29,2007 kick off meeting of the <br />Colorado Flood Task Force (FTF). The FTF includes local, state, and federal officials and private sector <br />experts. The FTF typically meets during the prime flood season (March through September) as needed <br />to coordinate flood related activities, monitor and forecast extreme weather conditions, and share <br />information. Presentations during the meetings included climate summaries, short and long-term <br />weather forecasts; spring and summer flood outlooks, streamflow and water supply information, and <br />new developments in local, state, and federal agency programs. The meeting summaries, presentations, <br />and handouts are located on the CWCB web site at <br />http://cwcbd.dnrweb.state.co.us/Flood/TaskForceAgenMinPres.htm. To report corrections to this <br />meeting summary, please contact Joe Busto at ioe.busto@state.co.us. <br /> <br />Reoort from Governor's Office/DNR Executive Director's Office <br />. Harris Sherman was appointed the new Executive Director of the Department of Natural <br />Resources. Jason Brinkley is the current water issues liaison. The Executive Director will be <br />filling several vacancies within his office during the coming weeks. <br /> <br />CWCB Pro2ram Overview <br />. Tom Browning, Chief, CWCB Flood Protection Section- <br />o The group was thanked for their participation and efforts related to the FTF, and <br />introductions were made by all participants. <br />o An overview of the agenda was discussed to frame the meeting. <br />o A brief status update for statewide snowpack conditions was provided indicating that the <br />statewide snow water equivalent was fairly low (around 75% of average), with <br />considerably low values in the southwest (around 60% of average) and near normal <br />conditions in the South Platte and Arkansas River Basins (around 100% of average). <br />o The CWCB Chairs the Flood Task Force and all staff members from the Flood Protection <br />Section are in attendance at this meeting in order to provide brief overviews of the <br />various flood programs. <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Flood Protection.
