Task 13

Task 5 includes using the HEC-l model to compare modeled runoff to historic flood data
for the Cherry Creek 1935 storm. The primary purpose of this effort is to assist in back
calculations of rainfall amounts and comparing the resulting runoff with peak stream flow
data. The findings from this effort will provide valuable information to any follow-on
projects which address PMF calculations. This task provides an initial evaluation of the
parameters provided by the USACE along with determination of additional HEC -1 input
parameters needed to make the model runs. The determination of the input parameters
includes delineating drainage areas, channel length and slope, identifying soils and
respective hydrologic properties, identifying vegetation type and density, and
determining channel geometry.
