Water Supply Reserve Account - Grant Application Form
Form Revised May 2007

4. Please provide an overview of the water project or activity to be funded including - type of activity, statement
of what the activity is intended to accomplish, the need for the activity, the problems and opportunities to be
addressed, expectations of the participants, why the activity is important, the service area or geographic
location, and any relevant issues etc. Please mclude any relevant TABOR issues that may affect the
Contracting Entity. Please refer to Part 2 of cr~ 'teria and Guidance document for additional detail on
information to include.
I
The purpose of this project is to assist the District by quantifying the use and supply of alluvial ground
water within the Basin and to create a water balan~e of the Basin to assist the District in developing
long-term management policies for the ground watd resources within the Basin, especially in regard to
well pumping and maximum levels of pumping (s~fe yield) that can reliably be sustained within the
District. The District has a goal of establishing and maintaining sustainable management of the ground
water resources of the Basin

This project is needed to ensure that the Basin's alluvial ground water resources are accurately
quantified. Once the resource is quantified, the Di~trict can make decisions to appropriately manage
ground water by determining if additional ground water well permits can be granted and thereby avoid
over-appropriation of the ground water.

6
