Griffith <br />North American Weather Consultants, Inc. <br />8160 South Highland Drive, Suite B-2 <br />Sandy, UT 84093 <br /> <br /> <br />RECORD OF DECISION <br />ON AN APPLICATION FOR A <br />WEATHER MODIFICATION PERMIT <br /> <br />DATE OF APPLICATION: <br /> <br />July 3,2007 <br /> <br />PROJECT: <br /> <br />Commercial seeding of winter storm clouds by ground-based cloud <br />nuclei generators. This permit is issued to increase snowpack, <br />streamflow, and reservoir storage for Upper Gunnison River and to <br />consolidate the operational program into one permit from the two <br />previous permits that were in the Gunnison Basin known as Permits <br />2003-1 and 2003-2. <br /> <br />TARGET AREAS: <br /> <br />The primary target area is defined as those mountainous areas above <br />9,000 feet means sea level located in Gunnison County, northern <br />Hinsdale County and northern Saguache County. The proposed <br />primary target area constitutes much of the Upper Gunnison River <br />Drainage that contributes streamflow to Blue Mesa Reservoir. <br />Drainages that originate from these areas include, but are not limited <br />to, the upper Gunnison River, East Fork River, Taylor River, Slate <br />River, Ohio Creek, Tomichi Creek, Cochetopa Creek, Cebolla <br />Creek, and Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. <br /> <br />DURATION: <br /> <br />The application requests a permit duration of November 15 through <br />April 15 for the next consecutive five years expiring April 15, 2012. <br /> <br />DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS: <br /> <br />Don Griffith, President, North American Weather Consultants, Inc. <br /> <br />PERMIT SOUGHT: <br /> <br />A winter commercial cloud seeding permit pursuant to section 36- <br />20-112, C.R.S., for five years duration pursuant to section 36-20- <br />114, C.R.S. <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE TAKEN: <br /> <br />The findings in this record of decision will be developed by a <br />CWCB staff member and a representative from Colorado Attorney <br />General's Office.
