North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes, 08-28-07
Their draft schedule for this task order (shown on the handout) is already behind. At the
beginning of October, it will hopefully be known what other attributes the roundtables are
asking to be mapped.
If anyone wants to join the workgroup they are welcome.
Are Hal Hagen and Ty Wattenberg going to continue to represent this roundtable at the
statewide level for non-consumptive workgroup? Even though Hal and Ty don't thii~lc
we will have as many non-consumptive needs prioritized as the other roundtables, Hal is
going to keep going to the meetings.
Kent hasn't seen any maps of these attributes in this basin, in enough detail for us to start
to prioritize.
Eric and Kelly pulled out the printed maps. They also handed out DVDs with the data.
Eric tallced about how you can maiupulate the maps in a GIS system.
Kent suggested to the roundtable that everyone look at them as a group on a screen at a
large scale
Eric pointed to slides 11-14 of the handouts, that lists the attributes they have identified at
CWCB so far.
Eric: look at the attributes; decide if there are any additional attributes to be mapped.
Other roundtables identified: wetlands, flatwater recreation, and hydropower facilities.
CWCB wants roundtables to help find the data to analyze these attributes.
CWCB Teclulical team needs to know who to interface with. They want a balanced
conunittee w/ consLUnptive and non-consumptive members. Or we can do it with a full
roundtable, since we are so small. Eric would like to leave here with that answer.
Existing needs assessment committee is: Jolu7 Rich, Rick Wyatt, Carl Trick, Ty
Wattenberg, Dimmer Baller.
Kent would like to have a smaller group to look at the data and then come back and tallc
to the roundtable and show everyone else.
Hal Hagen, Carl Trick, Kent Crowder, Ty Wattenberg, Rick Wyatt, Pete Conovitz, and
Paula Belcher will be the non consumptive needs assessment conlnuttee that will work
with the teclu7ical team. Eric can mail us more maps if we need them.
Carl had a question about how the hydropower attributes that were identified will work,
how they are going to gather that data.
Eric: said they don't lalow yet. They don't lalow if it will be statewide, or just for the
basins that ask for it.
Carl: Has the state determined whether or not hydropower is renewable?
Eric doesn't know specifically.
Sandy Knox asked about contamination of water, and if they have mapped any water
quality attributes.
