Basin-Wide Water Needs Assessments and IBCC's Role
Rick Brown presented on the statewide update and common technical platform. He described
how SWSI 1, SWSI 2 the Consumptive and Non-consumptive Supply Availability Study, Needs
Assessment Task Orders and Water Supply Reserve Account will be used to develop a statewide
update. This presentation is available on the website.
Melinda Kassei~: The Colorado Basin Study has huge implications for the South Platte and the
Arkansas.
Eric Hecox: Explained the statewide matrix. The Consumptive group sent out a survey to help
determine where time and resources should be spent. The Non-consumptive group will continue
to work with the Basin Roundtable on identifying non-consumptive attributes, determining
priorities, and quantification.
Dan Bitch: When is SWSI 2 report available?
RickBro~~~y~: November 14-15 CWCB Board Meeting
Eric Hecox: Also want to bring SWSI 2 to the Basin Roundtables.
Cap°I Trick: Recalculating the Gap date to the 2050 date or 2030 date?
Rick Bro~~~sz We sent the survey out to determine if we should go to 2050. We will not spend
too many resources doing it. There was also an update to the IPP's anticipated for the
recalculation of the Gap.
Kef~ Ne7rbecker: SWSI did a broad bn~sh of identification. So the Non-consumptive groups will
continue the identification process. Please add to the matrix.
Eric Hecox finished by explaining the role of the Supply Availability Study, Needs Assessment
and Water Supply Reserve Account. There is a mistake in the Supply Availability Study column
slide and this will be corrected.
Rick Brown: IBCC will have a role to provide input to Needs Assessment.
Melinda Kcrsset~: Put into a Gantt chart with schedule for next IBCC meeting.
Harris Shernaaj~: At the end of 2008 what will not be done?
Wavf~e L'andersch~rere: What is the purpose of the Consumptive Use Survey? How are we to
address the survey? Should we get BRT input?
Eric Hecox: You can either answer it as an individual member of the Consumptive work group
or as a representative of your roundtable.
2
