From Casey Clapsaddle, USFS and student at CSU, the runoff was more
than the 7/28/97 storm. Parts of the FS road 543 (Buffalo Creek Rd) WASHED
OUT from Shinglemill Creek (peak discharge about 1,000 cfs) downstream to
County Road 126 at the community of Buffalo Creek. Spring Gulch and Sand
Draw also contributed runoff. From information Casey provided for Buffalo
Creek at Sand Draw (CR126) and my channel geometry data, the peak
discharge at CR126 was about 1,000 to 1,200 cfs FROM LESS RAIN THAN ON 7/28
STORM.

rj

Robert D Jarrett
U.S. Geological Survey
Box 25046, MS 412
Denver, CO 80225

Phone: 303-236-6447
Fax: 303-236-5034
Internet: rjarrett@usgs.gov

Page 1
