t.

.

'.

Associates to develop an urban drainage and flood hazard study for the reach

of Boxelder Creek below this study to the confluence of Boxelder Creek with
the Cache la poudre River.

Most of the area subject to flooding is used for agriculture, however,

due to the close proximity with the City of Fort Collins, the pressures of

urbanization are influencing a change in land use, especially near the Town

of Wellington and the City of Fort Collins. The total length of the study
area is approximately 9.5 stream miles.
The flood plain, except for that located within the Wellington town

limits, is in'an unincorporated area and is under the jurisdiction of

Larimer County. The Cache la poudre River is a tributary to the South

Platte River and the study area is located within USGS Hydrologic Unit Code

10190007. A location map showing the study area is on page 4.

TYPE AND INTENSITY OF INVESTIGATION
Data such as flood history, photos, land use, and other pertinent
information will be collected for use in the study.
Flood hazard information for the 10-, 50-, 100- and SOO-year frequency
floods will be developed using existing conditions with all structures in
the Boxelder Watershed project in place.
Mapping will have flood plain information for the 100-year and SOO-year

frequency floods and will be prepared on a scale of 1" .. 400' for the

report. Flood plain map mylars, separate to the report, will be reproduced

on a scale of I" = 200' for local administration purposes.

Approximately 70 cross sections will be needed, of these about 50 will

be digitized photogrammetrically. Twenty cross sections located in and

north of the Town of Wellington have been field surveyed for an earlier

st:u.dy. These sections wi11 he used. Engineering surveys will be conducted

-3-
