The purpose of this plan of

study is to describe the need for and intended uses of the study findings,

type and intensity of investigations, inter-agency coordination, study

responsibilities, scheduling, and funding arrangements.

Previous studies and reports in the study area include "Boxelder Creek

Watershed, Larimer County, Colorado, Flood Plain Information" prepared by

the Soil Conservation Service in May 1970 and the "Flood Insurance Study,

Larimer County, Colorado, Unincorporated Areas", U.S. Department of Housing

and Urban Development, Federal Insurance Administration, September 1978.

In Colorado, the Soil Conservation Service and several other federal

agencies, and private consulting firms are engaged in flood plain land use

studies. As coordinator for all water studies in the state, the Colorado

Water Conservation Board establishes priorities and schedules these studies

on a priority basis. The Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Soil

Conservation Service entered into a joint coordination agreement for flood

hazard analyses on January 27, 1972 (revised November, 1978).

The Soil Conservation Service, United States Department of Agriculture,

carries out flood hazard analyses under the authority of Section 6 of Public

Law 83-566. in accordance with Recommendation 9(c) Regulation of Land Use of

-i-
