Reservoir storage along the shoreline
is referred to as shoreline bank storage and change in
reservoir storage is multiplied by a factor to account for
this storage to give total storage change. Reservoir
balance is computed as IN=OUT+factor*STORAGE CHANGE.
Reservoir storage credited to a water users bank account is
referred to as their water bank or just bank.
Content/Capacity Ratio - Total Upper Basin storage divided by
total Upper Basin storage capacity. Used for setting
storage targets for power pool protection at Blue Mesa,
Flaming Gorge, and Navajo in relation to Powell.
Lake Mead Forecast - Depleted and regulated runoff above Powell
plus gains below Powell and Hoover. An additional error
term is added to simulate actual forecast errors.
Effective System Space - Difference between maximum system
storage and current contents plus shoreline bank storage
change, evaporation, and uses.
Gains and Losses - Annual hydrology values taken from CRSS MHYDRO
database and are summed for 3 locations in EZ; above Glen
Canyon Dam, between Glen and Hoover, and below Hoover. The
MHYDRO database accounts for all the tributary inflow
stations, measurement errors, and unidentified inflow and
uses.
Live Capacity - Storage above outlet works up to maximum rated
storage. Reservoir capacity may be larger than target
capacity as is the case for Mead where capacity is rated at
8 feet above the spillway gates in the raised position at
elevation 1229. The target elevation due to flood control
requirements at Mead is about 1214.5 feet on January 1.
MHYDRO - A CRSS utility computer program that takes all the
monthly input gains and losses and produces reports such as
sums.
Other Bank - Water bank account for users in Arizona and
California other than CAP and MWD. These users are mostly
agricultural districts that may be allowed to exceed
entitlement water that must be repaid in the event of

i
