A 386-PC with a math coprocessor or better is recommended
to keep run times under 5 minutes. The BASIC language source
code are in the files EZSCRN.BAS, EZ1.BAS, and EZSUB.BAS that can
be edited and compiled with Microsoft Visual Basic for DOS 1.0.
In addition to the source code file, compiling requires 9 files
containing screen information used for the user interface that
are titled *.FRM.

There are 10 files required to be in the default directory for
all options in CRSSez to work:

Required files
1. CRSSEZ.EXE--Executable.
2. CONUSE.DAT--Normal and surplus consumptive use schedules.
3. HYDRO.DAT--Hydrology gains and conservation banking triggers.
4. ELEVCAP.DAT--Powell and Mead elevation capacity area table.

Optional files
5. RESERV.DAT--Starting reservoir contents.
6. MEADSHRT.DAT--Mead shortage capacities.
7. MEADSURP.DAT--Mead surplus capacities.
8. USHORT.DAT--Actual Upper Basin shortages from mainframe CRSS
run.
9. RATIO.DAT--Factors for distributing annual Hoover release to
monthly Hoover, Davis, and Parker releases in a normal year and a
normal year with full Gila River flow.
10. EZSET.DAT--Settings for all options may be saved to this
file.

Before making an EZ run, the data files (*.DAT) are edited using
an ASCII text editor. When editing a data file, the number of
title lines must not be changed (2 for CONSUSE.DAT). The data
column widths can be varied but data must be separated by either
at least 1 space, a comma, or a carriage return. There cannot be
any blank lines at the bottom of the file. CONUSE.DAT,
MEADSHRT.DAT, and MEADSURP.DAT are probably the only files a user
will want to edit.

Data File Descriptions:

CONUSE.DAT

The CONUSE.DAT file is best edited using a spreadsheet program
like Lotus 123 and printing the data back out as a text file.
Formulas can be entered in the spreadsheet to assure individual

14
