There are alluvial fans along the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, <br /> mostly in undeveloped areas of the county. Inyo County has no definition or classification system for <br /> identifying and classifying alluvial fans. <br /> Some of the fans have experienced overbank flow, cascading flow, channel movement, and debris <br /> deposition. About 5 years ago, a storm event caused debris to fill up about 2 miles of the Los Angeles <br /> Department of Water and Power's aqueduct. <br />, !The county has constructed bypass channels to control debris.
