<br />Strategic Plan <br /> <br />Vision <br />Looking forward into the fhture, the Board of Tmstees for the Foundation for Water Education <br />(CFWE) see a vivid and multi-faceted picture of what success will look like tor this organization. <br />The following are some of the key components of that vision. <br /> <br />· The citizens of Colorado are making good decisions about water management, and people are <br />working together to meet water needs in an economic, social and environmentally sound <br />manner; <br />· People understand limitations to water availability and act accordingly; <br />- Children understand where their water comes from; <br />· CFWE becomes a recognized authority, well-regarded by experts, on headwaters and other <br />western water resource issues, and is used as a fomm for discussion of these issues; <br />· Water resource issues remain important in the public consciousness, even after periods of <br />drought; and, <br />· CFWE is well-fimded, with productive staft: adequate offices, and other resources. <br /> <br />Mission <br />To promote better understanding of Colorado's water resources and issues by providing balanced <br />and accurate infonnation and education. <br /> <br />Unique Position <br />The Colorado Foundation for Water Education is the only statewide non-governmental, non- <br />partisan organization dedicated exclusively to providing balanced and accurate water intonnation <br />and education. <br /> <br />Guiding Principles <br />The following guiding principles represent the inviolate values that direct the work and actions <br />of the Foundation within the limitations of all enabling legislation, bylaws, and statutes: <br /> <br />· Non-advocacy: CFWE does not lobby or advocate positions on water issues. <br />Accountability: CFWE is tinancially and programmatically accountable to the citizens of <br />Colorado to provide educational programs for the benetit of the public good. <br />· Independence: CFWE is an independent non-pro tit organization that does not seek financial <br />gain tor support of particular advocacy positions. <br />- Disclosure: CFWE policies, criteria, and processes for educational program development <br />and accounting are fully disclosed upon request. <br />· Responsibly: The staff and lmsteeship conduct themselves in a respectthl, professional <br />manner in all matters related to Foundation business, <br />· Diversity: CFWE programs are open to all without discrimination. <br /> <br />2 <br />
