regarding stand diameters.
This value has been used
as an indication of
infestation susceptibility.
F or example, if there are a
lot of large trees in a
stand there is
considerably more risk of
infestation. The figure
provides current
infestation, and shows, by
tree type, the areas with
larger trees. This figure
provides an example of a
map that could be used to
help identify current areas
of concern and also
suggests the areas where
future attacks are likely to

. Slope: GIS coverage of slope in a watershed serving a water supply system can
provide significant insight to wildfire risk and the potential for erosion. Erosion as a
function of slope will be a factor in the following circumstances, in order of
importance
1) Wildfire
2) Aggressive thinning or clear cutting
3) Selective, low-impact thinning
4) Prescribed burn
