.

.

.

Western States Water Council
Water Quality Committee

Seattle, Washington
July 14, 2005

Discussion:
Workshop once GAD report issued
Schedule for our next WSWC meeting

WGAlWSWC WATER POLICES

In WSWC policy, needs to reference current title of WGA policy!! Stephen moved and Walt
seconded to recommend the WSWC resolution. Adopted unanimously.

GOOD SAMARITAN UPDATE

Shaun McGrath provided an update of action on Good Sam within WGA. The lead governors have
begun discussions with the Colorado delegation members who have introduced Good Sam bills. The
hope is to eventually work cooperatively - WGA, Congressional offices, EP A, environmental
groups, and mining industry groups - to develop a single bill that all can get behind.

IMPROVING WATER OUALITY COMMITTEE PROCESS & P ARTICIP ATION

Ask about participation with ASIWPCA, Have reps of both orgs present at meetings?
What are their primary issues of interest? Ask if they have suggestions for things the WQ
Committee might address. Paul suggests sending out an email to get ideas and then divide the list
and make some personal phone calls to follow up. Walt thought this was a good approach. It might
be useful to hold a conference call to get some uniformity. Formulate some questions and then
follow up with the conference call.

Susan Burke said that the time of the meeting is perhaps an issue. Perhaps overlap meetings, so that
we don't lose folks. Shaun should schedule conf. call between Chair, himself and Stephen B, and
Walt prior to the next meeting.

STATES ROUNDTABLE

Stephen Bernath mentioned that they have submitted their 04 list.

Paul said Mark Pifher has left his position with the State and Steve Gunderson has been appointed
in his position. Paul is not sure ofthe level of Steve's involvement with WSWC yet.

There being no further matters, the Water Quality Committee meeting was adjourned.

7
