Provide a brief description of your organization below: see "Description of Applicant" in Part 2 of Criteria and <br />Guidance for required information. <br /> <br />The San Luis Valley Resource Conservation & Development Council is partnering with the Alamosa River Watershed <br />Restoration Foundation to complete restoration work on the 2.8 mile reach of the Alamosa River between County Road <br />8 and County Road 10 in Conejos County near the community of Capulin. <br /> <br />Established in 1969, the San Luis Valley Resource Conservation & Development Council is an experienced and <br />successful 501 (c)3 in a broad array of community and economic development projects serving the six San Luis Valley <br />counties. The focus of the organization is to maximize the use of renewable resources and encourage best <br />management conservation practices, while helping economic growth throughout this rural region. In the last 7 years the <br />RC&D has been awarded over $2 million in grants. Decision-making is conducted by a 9 member Council (2 county <br />commissioners, 2 town/city representatives, 2 soil conservation district supervisors, and 3 members-at-Iarge). The SLV <br />RC&D has a small staff including administrative staff/bookkeeper who has successfully managed these projects. SL V RC&D will manage the restoration project. <br /> <br />RC&D operates on an annual budget of $80,000 and serves county, city and town governments, private individuals, <br />community groups, and federal, state and local agencies.
