State and local news sources covered the flooding all along the
Front Range with varying amounts of detail for specific locations.

I
I
I
I
I
I

According to the National Climatic Data Center's NEXRAD radar images, a large front
of severe storm activity formed in the mountains and intensified as it moved east. The
storm front hit the Front Range area at approximately 3:00PM and ended near 8:00PM.
The radar images are shown on the following pages, in Figures 1.7 through 1.14. The
legend adjacent to Figures 1.7 and 1.9 indicates that the higher color numbers relate to
higher precipitation intensities from the storm. In order to locate the Town of Jamestown
and the City of Colorado Springs on the NEXRAD radar images, Figure 1.6 (next page)
contains a map of the state of Colorado where Jamestown is marked with a red star and
Colorado Springs is marked with a blue star. Black stars on each of the radar images
(Figures 1.7 through 1. I 4) show the approximate location of Jamestown and Colorado
Springs by using Figure 1.6 as a reference.

ICO!i~'"

4

~:zoo,
