Preparation for the meeting involved development of our presentation
materials, including a large folding map of the basin which we hope to be able to use throughout the
study, and rehearsals. We made a number of valuable contacts at the meeting with whom we are
pursuing follow-up discussions of water demands and reservoir sites.

Our work in Task 2 (Water Demands) focused on summarizing demand data from the literature
and conducting a number on in-basin interviews with agency representatives regarding water use and
development projections. I believe we have collected nearly all the "hard" information we will obtain
and are now doing a few final telephone interviews to insure that loose ends have been tied up.

Our work in Task 3 (Site Identification) focused on tabulation of the secondary information we
have obtained and pre-screening of sites. We have identified over 60 sites, roughly 25 of which meet the
criteria of being within 50 miles of Craig and having a potential capacity of no less than 10,000 AF. I
have compiled this information into tables which are being sent to a few knowledgeable basin residents
for verification/clarification. Based on their input and some generalized computations of inflows we will
be able to identify, on a preliminary basis, the sites we will propose for field reconnaissance.

We began work on Task 4 (Hydrology and Water Rights) in gathering data on streamflows and
diversions, We have also begun some statistical analyses the will permit us to estimate flows at ungaged
points and locations, up- or downstream from gages.

I anticipate that by the end of October we will be ready to propose water demand scenarios and
site recommendations for discussion with the TSC. Subsequent to those discussions we would finaljze
our proposals and develop materials for presentation of recommendations to the PAG.

cc: Bob Norman
,Sue Uppendah1

anb:kjl
F:\SHARE\ TODO\MEM04.CRD

Hydrosphere 1002 Walnut Suite 200 Boulder, Colorado 80302
