2-07 House Committee Lay Over Unamended

Madam Chair:

Thank you. Any other questions? Alright; thanks Mr. Treat.
Frank Yaeger.

Mr. Yaeger:

Thank you, Madam Chairman, distinguished members of the
committee. My name is Frank Yaeger. I'm the district manager of
Parker Water and Sanitation District. I also am a large owner of
agricultural ground in the state of Colorado through my district.
We have about 6,000 acres out in Representative Hoppe's pali of
the country and we have become farmers.

I need to point out to you that it is my firm belief that this is an
important piece of legislation. I think personally that we are
headed toward critical mass on the waterfront in Colorado if we
are unable to meet in the middle and have constmctive dialogue.
It's very easy to divide and conquer. It's very easy for - I'm
catching up with the Chairman's concerns on the Gunnison side
'cause everybody's trying to get into my reservoir and manage it
for me. So I am seeing your point of view on quite a few different
issues right now.

But this is an opportunity I think to bring the discussion into a
realm that we can work in a friendly atmosphere and really try to
resolve some of the issues statewide.

We need to recognize that economic development is necessary for
the agricultural community and for the cities and for the river
district and everybody in this state.

This is an opportunity for us all to sit down and work towards a
solution because it's not going to go away. It's not going to get
easier. This is an opportunity for us to work together.

I applaud Director Russell and Representative Rose. I think
they've done an excellent job and I think this is the time to move
forward.

There's no question there are going to be issues on this bill that are
going to have to be amended. I've had some of those raised to me
personally, but I would certainly be happy to sit on any committee
to work on it to make this a reality in the state of Colorado. Thank
you.

Madam Chair: Mr. Yaeger, I have a similar question, what I asked the last
witness. We have a big picture situation here. So I'm going to talk

www.escriptionist.com Page 18 of 49
