2-28 House Committee amended to appropriations-1

Madame Chair: Is there a second.

Male #5: Okay, we've got a motion and a second. This is an amendment to
amendment L012, and Representative McFadyen, maybe if you
could read it again for those of us who write slow, after the period.

Rep. McFadyell: Madame Chair would it be appropriate to ask Mr. Morris to read
the amendment as he's helped me immensely.

Madame Chair: Write it down.

Rep. Morris: legal services, on L12, Line 12, at the very
end of that line there is a period. Right before the period we would
add the following words: and, after the period add "No more than
three of the Governor's appointees shall be affiliated with the same
political party.".

Madame Chair: Thank you. I think it's just one more safeguard
and one more thing to check off of the list to make sure, to ensure
that this process is tmly equitable, again regionally and from a
partisan perspective. So, I urge an Aye vote.

Madame Chair: FUliher discussion regarding the amendment to amendment LO 12.
Representative Rhodes, I think. Representative Hoppy.

Rep. Hoppy: Thank you Madame Chair, and I appreciate the sponsor changing
her original discussion to limiting this to the Governor's
appointees, I think that is appropriate. That's pretty commonplace
with the Governor's appointees, so I don't have a problem with this
amendment.

Madame Chair: Any other comments? Okay, the question before us, is the
amendment to the amendment. Is there any objection, any
objection to the amendment to the amendment? Being none - oh,
okay. Being none, the amendment to LO 12 is adopted. Let me just
make sure we're -

www.escriptionist.com Page 11 of 19
