these meetings in all nine basin roundtables in August. All of
them have been meeting regularly since that time.
It has been a wonderful effort. I have had a personal
opportuni ty to visit all but two, witness the work that they're
doing. And these are folks who aren't normally involved in
water matters. They're not familiar to me, they're not -- as far
as water leaders go, they're average citizens. Almost 300
average citizens p articipating in this process. So, we do see
this moving forward and we do see people coming together.
To empowering that process with a funding mechanism like
this makes a great deal of sense. To help rural communities
with a funding program like this ma kes a great deal of sense.
It's not the Denver Waters or Aurora or Colorado Springs or
parts of water sanitation that will be helped by this. It will
be the Norman Reservoirs and the Cactus Park Reservoirs or all
of these small projects across the state of Colorado that help
expand and make more efficient the use of water in these small
communities. Long Hollow Reservoir down in Senator Isgar's neck
of the woods would be another example, Red Mesa Wharf.
So, all of these things seem to make a great deal o f sense
today and we would ask for your support on this bill, ask for
you to support the bill through the process.
And with that, Mr. Chairman, I can answer any questions
that you might have.
- 18 -
