Chairperson Curry: Okay. And Members of the Committee,

what--the reason I'm asking questions about this is that I

think, actually, this is a great concept to provide $10 million

for non-reimbursable efforts for grants.

That's something we

really need in the state of Colorado.

much of a positive thing.

My concern lS runnlng through these applications or this

I think that's a very

competition for this money through these roundtables.

I was

hoping to allow for entities to go straight to the state for

grant dollars, if they didn't have an existing avenue, you know,

already.

And my understanding was that most of the grants that the

state has issued have been In the $10-15,000 range for

feasibility studies, but I could be wrong. And lS that about

right?
Mr. Kuharich: Madame Chair, I think you're referring to

our small grant program, where we would offer a $5,000 for

feasibility studies with a $5,000 match.

Now, that program is nearing its end of funding.

It was

little used except for the very small entities. And we have now

refocused more on the overall non-reimbursable program, which

identifies the projects of statewide concern or the feasibility

studies that would lead to project loans.

- 6 -
