NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, March 13, 2007; 4 pm; Weld County Services Center,
Longmont, CO

--Chair Bill Jerke calls meeting to order at 4: 11 pm.; special introductions:
Introduces Don Ament:
Comments: 3 state recovery program on South Platte continues forward;
Bill to authorize recovery program on endangered species to be introduced in W A
next year; reminder that this program good for irrigation; good snow pack this
year.
Jerke announces that Eric Wilkinson was a distinguished alumni of CSu.

I. Standard Reports:
1. IBCC Report: Mike Shimmin:
1) IBCC meeting on 2/2; first opportunity to meet with Harris
Sherman, new Director of DNR: Sherman posed questions at
IBCC: starting with discussion saying that the Governor has
charged him with evaluating all DNR programs and that the
IBCC and Roundtable process were under evaluation;
Sherman's questions focused on how the process is working so
far: how roundtable communicating with IBCC; how IBCC
communicating with other state agencies; whether roundtables
getting info they need from staff and other agencies; how needs
assessment in each basin going on. Good discussions that
prompted other comments from other members of IBCC
members saying that the processes are going well but that the
process needs more time to work well. Concerns around role of
IBCC. Shimmin opines that for the most part it was a useful
discussion; Harris says at the end of the conversation that maybe
the process needs more time, is creating good discussion;
expressed concern about how IBCC/Roundtable process would
interface with existing projects that are not involved in the
current IBCC process. Focus is on how to coordinate on what is
happening outside the process and inside the process.
Jerke: encouraged about governor looking at process;
Shimmin: opines that governor is helping his govt heads to help
him
Eric Hecox: Agrees; the governor is evaluating this process but
the evaluation is ongoing for all DNR processes; governor wants
to find a way to make this work and how to make it work well.
