- Re meetings held on well metering — well attended especially one with Senator <br />Salazar here at Adams State — got message out about timing and requirements <br /> - Mar ch 1 is deadline — anyone who needs info rmation is encouraged to contact <br />DWR office — many more meters still to be installed, as many have waited for the end of <br />the irrigation season — <br /> <br />Education Program for the Public <br />Mike G — we have continued to educate “ourse lves” but would ask for a subcommittee to <br />look at how to create more generally available water education — also the IBCC has an <br />education committee <br /> <br />Ray — knows this is in the legislation — something that he’s very unclear about is funding <br />for the local RT’s — we know that any credible education project costs money and <br />requires staffing — the idea of voluntary time and resources coming out of this group, is <br />not likely to succeed — RGWCD has been focused on sub districts so have not pursued <br />education very actively — IBCC seems to want to help local RT’s — suggests that we use <br />existing channels of funded organizations for this <br /> <br />Mike G — asked Ray to raise this issue at next IBCC meeting re an “unfunded mandate” <br /> <br />Cindy — re public request for proposals — could be an opportunity to do outreach — a form <br />of education and could help avoid future concerns <br /> <br />Mel G — whole idea of Reservoir Celebration is about education — have some pretty high <br />powered speakers — re surface and underground storage — dates July 23, 24, 25 ,2007 — <br />should know by next meet ing on several grants — will probably be applying here for <br />matching funds <br /> <br />Replacement of Roundtable Members <br />- lost recreational member — asked about inviting Joel ______ <br />- also need more reps from the southern part of the Valley — <br /> <br />Other B usiness <br /> <br /> <br />Ed N — has been meeting with municipalities in Saguache County to try to encourage <br />them to develop aug mentation plans — thinks RT ought to set up specific meeting for this <br />and DWR to research their rights and let them know what they need to do — need to do <br />something for them to help them prepare for what’s coming <br /> <br />Mike S — can tell them what’s involved in putting together an aug mentation plan <br /> <br />Mike G — SB222 does not include cities? <br /> <br />Ray — been running into this road block in numerous ways — need for County Tre a surers <br />to certify land s enrolled — Cities, towns, fed agencies, state, cemete ries, and lots of <br />loopholes \ /logjams for an sub district to protect these water rights holders — important for <br /> Page 6 of 7 RGBRT Minutes <br /> <br /> November 14 , 2006 <br />
