Further downstream, the effect of the reservoir is muted as more unregulated flow is added. The
Taylor River at A1mont has a 20 percent reduction and the Gunnison River at Almont and near Gunnison
having reductions of 10 and 8 percent, respectively.

Since the Taylor Park Reservoir is primarily operated for downstream irrigation supply, it is likely that the
gate operation schedule and/or the initial water surface in the reservoir could vary drastically depending
on variables outside the scope of this study. In order to determine the effects of a more complicated
reservoir operation, a more detail reservoir simulation model, such as HEC-5 or RESSIM, would be
needed in order to incorporate the supply aspects of the operation.

Table 6.4.1

Reservoir Operation Model Results for Starting Water Surface Elevation of 9,328
feet

Unregulated Regulated
Peak Daily Difference
Flow Peak Flow (cfs) % Difference
(cfs) (cfs)
Tavlor River Below Taylor Park Reservoir 2,573 1,817 757 42%
Inflow to Taylor Park River Between 1,667 1,667 0 0%
Tavlor Park Reservoir and Almont
Taylor River at Almont 4,146 3,457 689 20%
East River at Almont 4,537 4,537 0 0%
Gunnison at Almont 8,683 7,926 758 10%
Inflow to Gunnison River Between
Almont and Gunnison (Primary Tributary 1,750 1,750 0 0%
- Ohio Creek near Gunnison)
Gunnison River near Gunnison 10,051 9,293 758 8%

54
