The pattern hydrograph was balanced for the locations
along the Taylor and Gunnison Rivers. The pattern hydrograph was balanced using the following
methodology.

1. The peak flow of the pattern hydrograph was set to the one percent chance exceedence peak flow.
This value was then set in the final balanced hydrograph.
2. The 1-day average was taken by multiplying the 12 hours before and after the peak flow by a ratio
and averaging the entire 24-hour period, including the previously set peak flow. The ratio was chosen
so that the daily average was equal to the one percent chance exceedence 1-day average flow.
These values were then set in the final balanced hydrograph.
3. The 3-day average was taken by multiplying the 24 hours before and after the 1-day flow by a ratio
and averaging the entire 3-day period, including the previously set 24-hour flows. The ratio was
chosen so that the daily average was equal to the one percent chance exceedence 3-day average
flow. These values were then set in the final balanced hydrograph.
4. The process was then repeated in for the remaining 5-,7-, 15-, 30~, and 60-day values.

Table 6.2.1 lists the one percent chance exceedence values used to develop the one percent chance
exceedence balance hydrographs for each location. The resulting one percent chance exceedence
balanced hydrographs are shown in Figure 6.2.2.

Table 6.2.1

One Percent Chance Exceedence Balanced Hydrograph Values

Taylor River Taylor River at East River at Gunnison Gunnison
below Taylor River Near
Park Reservoir Almont Almont River at Almont Gunnison
Peak Flow 2,573 cfs 4,146 cfs 4,600 cfs 8,680 cfs 10,050 cfs
1-Day 2,114 cfs 3,721 cfs 4,290 cfs 7,810 cfs 9,400 cfs
3-Day 2,019 cfs 3,433 cfs 4,040 cfs 7,510 cfs 9,020 cfs
5-Day 1,950 cfs 3,309 cfs 3,920 cfs 7,270 cfs 8,730 cfs
7-Day 1 ,888 cfs 3,204 cfs 3,710 cfs 7,070 cfs 8,480 cfs
15-Day 1,683 cfs 3,013 cfs 3,310 cfs 6,700 cfs 7,390 cfs
30-Day 1,518cfs 2,673 cfs 2,950 cfs 5,920 cfs 6,490 cfs
60-Day 1,231 cfs 2,091 cfs 2,490 cfs 4,700 cfs 5,560 cfs

50
