May 1, 2006

Bill Trampe said that the vision statement should be more than just a statement - it should be a
vision. Growth will occur at the expense of agriculture. We have to convince people that there is no
excess water available in the Gunnison Basin.

Lynn Connaughton said that she has a problem with the word "people." She would like to replace
"people" with "stakeholders". Ralph Grover suggested that "stakeholder" may not be the right word
as the reference should suggest the people who live here as well as people who tend the land. It was
then proposed that the word "people" be removed from the statement. Michelle Pierce reminded
everyone that the motion was still on the table, and suggested the vision statement be "The purpose
of this Roundtable is to cooperatively act to develop long-term solutions to conserve, protect, and
defend the waters of the Gunnison Basin for the use, enjoyment, and benefit of the people of the
Gunnison Basin." The motion carried unanimously.

Additional Business
Michelle Pierce requested ideas for the next meeting agenda. Several ideas were mentioned; the
Grand Mesa Water Project, legal issues on river, running update of issues, and the number of
districts who have sway over their issues.

Ken Spann, Olen Lund, and Hugh Sanburg will meet to prepare Hugh's presentation for the May 18
Roundtable Caucus.

Bill Trampe requested a change to the setup of the tables and the meeting room. Mike Berry
volunteered to follow up with Holiday Inn.

A question was raised about when and how to educate the public. Several felt that the best way was
to send out press releases, however, it was generally felt that the GBRT was not ready for that.

Next Meetine
The next meeting of the Gunnison Basin Roundtable will be June 5,2006.

Adiourn
There being no further business to come before the Roundtable, the meeting adjourned at 5:56 pm.

~~--

Mike Berry, Recorder

4
