Eric Kuhn talked
about the Colorado River issues:

No major calls on the Gunnison River since Aspinall legislation (circa 1960) until

2002.

Uncompahgre and Red1ands calls both made calls in 2002.
How to made augmentation plans functional.
Rick Brown talked about SWSI 1.

Weare getting up to speed on education and about to jump off into needs assessment.

Rita Crumpton (from IBCC perspective): Ten to 30 tears from now: We have the best
opportunity we have had in 100 years to address water in this state. What do we want to look
like in 50 years? - This is what we should send up to the IBCC.

Jay Skinner: Gay.skinner@state.co.us) The Division of Wildlife was at the caucus. Items that
came up included recreational vs. consumptive uses and permitting issues. DNR asked Jay to be
involved in this and the SWSI arena so as to not operate in the permitting ambush arena. We're
looking for a place to get engaged and to identify areas that folks should be aware of. Let's not
leave it to the permitting process because that becomes adversarial. There are three listed
endangered fish on the western slope: humpback chub and two sucker species. We need to
address what could be coming and what we need to do to head it off.

Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Water Supply and Needs Reportfor the Colorado
Basin (supplied by Eric Hecox)

Information in SWSI is pertinent to Colorado River Basin
Starting point for needs assessment
Review to see where there are gaps
How Upper Colorado was integrated into SWSI: This is being done.
The Colorado Geological Survey's Ground Water Atlas of Colorado is available in
Dave Merritt's office.

9.
