This investigation concluded
that the bedrock in the vicinity of the dam would probably be sedimentary.

In 2001 Kumar and Assoc., Inc. performed a surface and subsurface
geologic investigation of the Keeton Dam site. The report described the site
geology and conditions, and the exploratory program. The program included borings
and a seismic refraction survey, focused on the south abutment area for evaluation
of depth to and extent of bedrock. Bedrock was discovered at relatively shallow
locations, which would provide a relatively erosion resistant spillway control
surface. The bedrock would probably require blasting to remove. The on-site
sandstone bedrock materials would not meet the Bureau of Reclamation's
requirements for hard, durable riprap.

Copies of these reports are included in Appendix A.

21
