Mitigation and Compensation Under ISF Rule 7
. The Statement of Basis and Purpose of the ISF Rules provides that
under ISF Rule 7, "compensation" may include without limitation
_ cash payments to the Board (if such ~yments can be used
exclusively for furthering the goals 0 the ISF Program),
_ installation of stream measuring, monitoring or reporting devices
on ISF reaches or lakes,
_ construction of stream, channel, bank or lake bed improvements
which would permit the protection of the natural environment to a
reasonable degree in existing ISF rights, or
- donation to the Board of water, water rights or interests in water
in the vicinity of the inundation or as needed by the Board in
other parts of the State.
. AccePtin~ compensation outside of the vicinity of the inundation
would on y be accepted if no alternatives exist for mitigation on the
affected stream reach.

. Almost 7 years of public input (written and oral), Board and ISF
Subcommittee discussions, testimony and debate, culminating in a
formal rulemaking hearing
