The water system upgrade project addressed in this report is primarily focused on addressing
existing system deficiencies, rather than facility expansion to accommodate all, or any, of the
growth indicated by the projections in Table 3, Projected growth data is included in this report
for informational purposes only, Development plans for each growth area shown in Figure 2
must include provisions for securing their own 'water rights as required, as well as their own
system infrastructure, including tanks, distribution mains, and possibly additional water
treatment facilities,

III. EXISTING FACILITIES

A. .Location/General

The water distribution system for the Town of Minturn is schematically shown in Figure 3.
Water is supplied by a surface water intake on Cross Creek which feeds raw water to the water
treatment plant through a 12 inch supply line. Water treatment consists of slow sand gravity
filtration with filtered water being delivered to a nearby clearwell. At the clearwell, filtered
water is both chlorinated and fluoridated. Soda ash is added for corrosion control. From the
clearwell treated water flows by gravity into the town's distribution system through a 4,700 foot,
12 inch transmission main. Water is separately delivered by two small pumps through an 8 inch
