The Selected Project

The Guenzi's plan to pursue alternative #3. Features of this
alternative are as follows:

Drill one new well and refurbish an existing well both for
pumping water into recharge ponds. The wells would pump up
to a combined maximum rate of 12 cfs. This would produce up
to 2000 acre feet annually from the 2 wells. The wells would
both be located within 100 feet of the South Platte River.

Three existing recharge ponds currently filled from the
Pawnee ditch will be purchased.

Two new recharge ponds will be constructed at locations to
be filled by the recharge wells.

Piping will be used to convey water from the wells to the
existing and proposed recharge ponds. Piping will range from
21 to 12 inches in diameter. The piping will be buried.

Easements will be generated corresponding to all pipeline
routes across the irrigated portions of the farm.

Water Rights

The Guenzi's currently have decrees on the 31 wells used for
irrigating their farms. These wells are augmented through LWU.
The Guenzi's also own the following water rights:
11.5 shares Pawnee Ditch Company
21.0 shares Sterling Irrigation Company
192.9 Acre-Rights Prewitt Reservoir - Logan District

The proposed 2 recharge wells will require a new water right and
is currently being sought. This new water right will be for a
maximum of 12 cfs with an average annual yield of 2000 acre feet.

Feasibility Study
Guenzi Aug Project
April 2004

5
