Town of Oak Creek

The CWCB studied Oak Creek by detailed methods from approximately 200 feet
upstream of County Road (CR) 27 to approximately 1,900 feet upstream of
Oak-Williams Street, a reach of approximately 0.9 mile.

City of Steamboat Springs

The Yampa River flows on a northwesterly course through the City of Steamboat
Springs and is joined by Soda, Butcherknife, Spring, Fish, and Walton Creeks in the
city. Substantial development is expected generally throughout the study area. It was
agreed by the city, the county, the FIA, and the USACE that all the above-mentioned
streams, plus the lower reach of Burgess Creek (a tributary to Walton Creek), would be
studied by detailed methods under Inter-Agency Agreement No. IAA-H-16-75, Project
Order No. 17, which defined the original study in the city. The streams restudied are
listed in the countywide restudy description in this section. The stream reaches agreed
upon for study by approximate methods are Burgess Creek, upstream of Storm Meadow
Road, and those portions of unnamed tributaries to Fish, Burgess, and Walton Creeks
within city limits.

Routt County

For the original study in the county, the following streams were studied by detailed
methods throughout the county under Inter-Agency Agreement
No. IAA-EMW-85-1823, Project Order No. 24.

The Yampa River was studied from approximately 2.5 miles downstream of its
confluence with Slate Creek to the corporate limits of the City of Steamboat Springs.
The Yampa River was also studied from upstream of the corporate limits of Steamboat
Springs to approximately 7,500 feet upstream of SH 131. The Elk River was studied
from approximately 3,300 feet upstream of its confluence with the Yampa River to.
approximately 4,500 feet upstream of CR 62. See the countywide restudy description
in this section for the streams restudied.

Countywide Restudy

The Yampa River restudy was completed under Contract No. EMC 1999-CO-OO39 and
consists of two separate reaches, one in the western part of Routt County in the vicinity
of the Town of Hayden and one in the eastern portion of the county that flows through
the City of Steamboat Springs. All portions of the Yampa River previously studied by
detailed methods were revised as part of the current countywide restudy. The west
reach of the Yampa River extends from the Carpenter Ranch area downstream to the
U.S. Highway (US) 40 bridge on the west side of Hayden, a distance of 13.8 stream
miles. The east reach of the Yampa River extends from Lake Catamount, flows
northwesterly through the City of Steamboat Springs, and extends downstream to
Saddle Mountain, a distance of approximately 25.8 stream miles. Both old and new
urban development has occurred along this reach.

5
