<br />In addition to agencies in Mesa County, the following agencies and <br />establishments were contacted during the search for information for <br />the initial study: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), U.S. <br />Geological Survey (USGS), U.S. Forest Service, National Weather <br />Service, Colorado Division of Highways, Grand Junction Public <br />Library, Gateway Elementary School, Grand Valley Irrigation <br />District, Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce, Palisade Tribune. <br />Fruita Times, and Grand Junction Dailv Sentinel. <br /> <br />The intermediate coordination meeting was held on October 19, 1976. <br />Members of the Mesa County Commission and representatives of the <br />Mesa County Planning Department, Town of Palisade, cweB, CaE, local <br />consul t ing engineers, and local financial interest s at tended the <br />meeting. Technical data generated for the study were presented and <br />reviewed. There were no questions or discussions indicating that <br />local interests believed the technical data to be incorrect or <br />inadequate. <br /> <br />The final community coordination meeting for the original study was <br />held on April 18, 1977, and attended by members of the Mesa County <br />Commission and representatives of the Mesa County Planning <br />Department, CWCB, FEMA, COE, and local consul ting engineers. No <br />criticism of the report or data that would modify the findings of <br />the study were presented. <br /> <br />The initial Consultation and Coordination Officer (ceo) meeting for <br />the restudy was held on June 10, 1988, and attended by <br />representatives of FEMA, the CWCB, the Colorado Department of <br />Highways, Mesa County, the COE, the USBR, the Grand Junction <br />Drainage District, and the study contractor. <br /> <br />In addition, the USBR, the USGS, Grand Junction Public Library, and <br />the Sacramento District of the COE were contacted during the course <br />of the study. <br /> <br />Vertical control data used to establi sh the network of elevation <br />reference marks were provided by the USBR. <br /> <br />The results of the restudy were reviewed at the final ceo meeting <br />held on August 27,1991, and attended by representatives of Mesa <br />County, the eweB and FEMA. All problems raised at that meeting <br />have been addressed in this study. <br /> <br />2.0 AREA STUDIED <br /> <br />2.1 Scope of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study covers the unincorporated areas of Mesa <br />County.
