UO'l\55\J

1.7 The Division will inform the pUblic about the state of Colorado's fishery resources, the
progress towards meeting management goals and objectives and the fiscal
expenditures of the fishery management programs.

1.8 The Division will actively work to foster cooperative relations with various user groups
and constituencies.

2.0 PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE AND WILDLIFE HABITATS

The management of sportfish and non-sport fish and their habitats is highly dependent on
the waters in which those fish populations live. The challenge is to protect, preserve and
enhance fishery habitats and species in cooperation with federal, state and local agencies,
as well as other users of aquatic habitats who have an interest in land and water uses
throughout the state.

2.1 Habitat Protection for All Habitats

2.1.1 The Division of Wildlife will collect, analyze and provide sound scientific and
biological information on a routine basis to ensure the health, preservation and
protection of aquatic habitats to benefit fish populations.

2.1.2 The Division shall develop and maintain strong cooperative working
relationships with those state, Federal, county and local entities that have an
influence over the quantity and quality of aquatic habitats in order to seek
optimum water flows, adequate water quality and water levels that benefit fish
species, especially any that are listed as threatened or endangered.

2.1.3 The Division will work cooperatively with the Colorado Water Conservation
Board to provide aquatic habitat protection, enhancement and development to
improve the status of habitats, especially as they relate to recovery and
protection of native species;

2.1.4 Access to non-public aquatic habitats for protection and recovery will be
accomplished through written agreements and partnership programs with
private landowners, municipalities, and others to meet fishery management
objectives.

7
