<br />UO'l\55\J <br /> <br />1.7 The Division will inform the pUblic about the state of Colorado's fishery resources, the <br />progress towards meeting management goals and objectives and the fiscal <br />expenditures of the fishery management programs. <br /> <br />1.8 The Division will actively work to foster cooperative relations with various user groups <br />and constituencies. <br /> <br />2.0 PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE AND WILDLIFE HABITATS <br /> <br />The management of sportfish and non-sport fish and their habitats is highly dependent on <br />the waters in which those fish populations live. The challenge is to protect, preserve and <br />enhance fishery habitats and species in cooperation with federal, state and local agencies, <br />as well as other users of aquatic habitats who have an interest in land and water uses <br />throughout the state. <br /> <br />2.1 Habitat Protection for All Habitats <br /> <br />2.1.1 The Division of Wildlife will collect, analyze and provide sound scientific and <br />biological information on a routine basis to ensure the health, preservation and <br />protection of aquatic habitats to benefit fish populations. <br /> <br />2.1.2 The Division shall develop and maintain strong cooperative working <br />relationships with those state, Federal, county and local entities that have an <br />influence over the quantity and quality of aquatic habitats in order to seek <br />optimum water flows, adequate water quality and water levels that benefit fish <br />species, especially any that are listed as threatened or endangered. <br /> <br />2.1.3 The Division will work cooperatively with the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board to provide aquatic habitat protection, enhancement and development to <br />improve the status of habitats, especially as they relate to recovery and <br />protection of native species; <br /> <br />2.1.4 Access to non-public aquatic habitats for protection and recovery will be <br />accomplished through written agreements and partnership programs with <br />private landowners, municipalities, and others to meet fishery management <br />objectives. <br /> <br />7 <br />
