AU-structure ("D"-hole) at the Yampa River Whitewater Park at 76 cfs.

Higber Flows

The primary purpose ofthe Boating Park is to provide a recreation experience for tubers, rafters,
canoers, kayakers and other boating enthusiasts. The Boating Park on the Yampa River was
designed to be a usable attraction for top level kayakers and other boaters at flow rates of 1700
cfs or greater. The higher flow rate for which the Boating Park was designed was based on basic
hydraulic formulas coupled with a working knowledge ofthis segment ofthe Yampa River and
its characteristics. Water at this flow rate will be controlled and diverted throughout the Boating
Park andwill not be wasted. The wavefonns, hydraulics, eddies, and holes become powerful and
are conducive to play-boating, slalom boating, and squirt boating. The structures that will create
these features are hydraulically and structurally sound, with anchors into the bed and banks of
the river made of large stone and concrete.

-10-
