An
educational effort can be coordinated with garden centers and box
stores in the area so that the store staff is aware their customers
have received this material and are interested in this topic in the
spring. Point of sale posters and billboards can be used to brand the
DVD logo and raise awareness amongst recipients about water wise
and xeric approaches. Posters can be displayed in grocery stores,
and other places residents gather to reinforce this message. Local
media, such as Colorado Community Newspapers will be contacted
to support the distribution effort. Efforts will be undertaken to write
articles for The Denver Post's Your Hub.com, which has circulation
to 48,000 subscribers in the area, as well as The Sunday Denver
Post, which has statewide circulation of 710,000. Mike Nelson of 7
News will be asked to do a location shoot on the project for his
weather news segment. This task will be performed by the staff of
the water providers who are members of the applicant, Douglas
County Public Affairs Director Wendy Holmes, and MarK Shively.
Ms. Holmes and Mr. Shively will be responsible for coordinating the
completion of these tasks. These tasks camot be undertaken until
the CWCS acts on this grant request on or about January 24, 2007.
All tasks must be prioritized and completed in a timely fashion to
support the DVD distribution.

.--or "0

(

Water is most important policy issue say citizens in a recent
Douglas County Public Opinion Survey.

Given 14 possible options of policy priorities for Douglas County,
respondents contacted in an April 2006 telephone survey assigned
the highest priority (79%) to the idea of the County developing an
adequate long-term water supply for residents.
