~ ..
....-,

BLACK Be VEATCH

Mr. John Van Sciver

Page 2

B&V Project 25325.100
January 13, 1995

industrial needs and both the new and existing wells will be used
to meet these demands.

As new City parks are created, the City plans on continuing to use
well water for park irrigation.

The City is pursuing the development of a community center in Fort
Lupton that will include soccer fields. Well water will be used
to irrigate this site.

As explained in the Draft Feasibility Study, the City will
continue to use well water for blending with its surface water
supply during times of peak demand. As growth occurs, more well
water will be required for blending capabilities and the wells
will be used for this purpose.

The existing screens and casings of the City's existing municipal
water wells are rusted, corroded, and in very poor condition.
Should one of these screens or casings collapse, the new wells
will give the City flexibility in responding to such an event.
The City currently has no flexibility.

The City currently has little rotational flexibility with its
existing wells. New wells will provide the City with some
additional rotational flexibility.

It is the City's intent to integrate the new proposed wells into the
City's short-term and long-term water supply facilities operations. The
City's five existing wells will not be able to provide all the well
water demands that will be put onto the groundwater delivery system as
the above developments and projects occur, and the new wells, as well as
potentially future wells, will be used to satisfy the associated water
requirements.

i

i

i

i

i

If you have any questions, or require additional information, please
call me at 671-4255.

Very truly yours,

BLACK & VEATCH

~C~~

Lee A.
