steeply in Delta County. Eleven-month averages for 1992 indicate
unemployment leveling off in both counties in 1992. Population has
not changed appreciably because no new domestic water taps are
available outside the limits of the Town of paonia, Colorado.

LAND USE

The Beaver Reservoir irrigation system irrigates approximately
3,400 acres of farmland. Crops grown on lands served by the Beaver
Reservoir irrigation system include wheat, corn for grain and
silage, barley, oats, dry beans, hay and alfalfa. Fruit crops
include apples, peaches, pears and tart cherries. No data is
available on the actual percentages of the various irrigated crops
in the service area; however, a rough breakdown of the various
crops for Delta County was estimated from Colorado Agricultural
Statistics, 1992, published by the Colorado Department of
Agriculture. Table 4 -4 presents the different irrigated crops
grown in lands services by the Beaver Reservoir irrigation system.
The estimated acres of each crop, the 1991 yields per acres, and
crop revenues are shown. A summary of the yields of the various
irrigated crops since 1985 is presented in Table 4-5. We do not
believe current information to be appreciably different than that
earlier documented.

The anticipated net acreage of irrigated crop usage in the
service area is expected to remain the same or very near the same
as the present acreage. Even if some agricultural land is changed
to municipal or residential use, the associated water usage
assessments will remain with those particular land packages;
therefore, a net increase or decrease in use is not anticipated.
