General location of the project. (Please include county, and approximate distance and direction from <br />nearest town, as well as legal description, if known. Garfield County Ditch originates approximately 1 <br />mile NE of Carbondale and terminates approximately 2 miles south of Glenwood Springs. See attached <br />map. The proposed structure is located in the NE Y. of section 28, Township 7 South, Range 88 West. <br /> <br />5. Please provide a brief narrative description of the proposed project including purpose, need, facilities, type <br />of water uses to be served and service area. Attach separate sheet, if needed. The proposed new <br />structure will be a concrete headwall with a rock 'j" hook jetty to divert water to the concrete wall and inlet <br />gates. One of the following options will be used, based on cost, to convey the water the 200 feet to the <br />existing measuring flume (badly in need of replacement) and ditch. The fIrst option will be an open ditch <br />that will need to be constructed. The second option will be 3 buried pipelines from the headgate to the <br />same point in the ditch system Currently Natural Resources Conservation Service is assisting in <br />evaluating the options and they will be designing the new structure.
