The water demanded by property use type is summarized in
Table 1-2 below (WWE 2002).

Table 1-2: Water Demand by Property Use Type

Type of Property Use Potable Water Demand
(gallons per capita per day)
Residential 85 gpcd
Commercial (general) 20 gpcd
Hotel 55 gpcd
Country Club 30 gpcd
Hospital 20 gpcd
& 278 gallons/bed/day
School 18 gpcd

The ACWW A distribution system consists of ductile iron, asbestos cement and polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) pipelines, ranging in size from 6 to 30 inches in diameter. The ACWW A
distribution system is comprised of three pressure zones, the upper or Red Zone, the Grey Zone,
and the lower or Blue Zone. The Blue Zone serves the northern portion of ACWW A between the
ground elevations of 5,620 and 5,690 feet. The Gray Zone serves the southern portion of
ACWW A between the ground elevations of 5,670 and 5,880. The Red Zone serves the eastern
portion of ACWW A (east of Parl(er Road). The Blue Zone is supplied by gravity from a 1
million-gallon storage tanl(, the Blue Zone Tanl(, which operates with a water level elevation
between 5,811 and 5,836 feet. The Gray Zone is served by a 4 million-gallon storage tanl(, the
Gray Zone Tanl(, which operates with a water level elevation between 5,947 feet and 5,970 feet.

A high demand booster pump station that draws from the Blue Zone Tanl( allows water to be
pumped to the Gray Zone. Additionally, there are several pressure reducing valves (PRV's)
between the two zones that allow the Gray Zone to download to the Blue Zone Blue Zone. There
is flexibility available in the distribution system so that some of the ACWW A wells may pump
into either the Blue or Gray Zone.

November 2006

3

Richard P.
