Evans <br />Actin� DirectOr, C.tiVC� <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item 27b, November 23-24, 1998, Board vleeting - <br />Water Project Construction Loan Program - Special Purpose Accounts <br />Feasibility Study Small Grant Account - Creation <br />Introduction <br />This memo is in support of a staff iniriative to create an account in the Construction for the purpose of <br />makin� small grants to water users to help pay for the costs of preparing feasibility studies in <br />conformance with the CWCB Construction Fund Guidelines. <br />Back,�ound <br />The General Assembly allocated up to $35,000 in 1992 from the CWCB Construction Fund for a Small <br />Dam Site Reconnaissance Program to help water users identify small water supply projects. The <br />money was used to prepare reconnaissance level invesrigations for 22 different dam sites. In 1993, at <br />the Board's recommendation, the Legislature allocated an additional ��0,000 from the Construction <br />Fund to continue the program. Subsequently several grants up to $5,000 each to help pay for feasibility <br />study investigations have been made, and we expect to deplete our current authorization for the Small <br />Dam Site Reconnaissance Program by the end of the fiscal year. <br />
