C. Feasibility

1. $210,658.00 cost estimate for the selected
alternative.
2. Cost share funds will be received through
the EQIP program. $125,840.00 is allocated
for this project.
3. Approximately 1506 acre-feet of seepage
water will be eliminated. The saved water
will be included in the overall fa~
irrigation supply. That part which is in
excess of the irrigation needs will not be
diverted from the Alamosa River, thus
increasing the total water available to all
other water users including wetland and
wildlife values. Maintenance costs
associated with the open ditch delivery
system will be mostly eliminated.
4. Erosion within the delivery ditch to be
abandoned will be mostly eliminated. This
will improve the water quality in all
receiving waters. The electrical power
consumption from the local power grid will
be decrease, thus reducing human dependency
on fossil fuel derived energy.
5. No wetlands are affected by this project.
An effort to inventory cultural resources
has been undertaken by local and area
staff. To date, no cultural resources have
been identified.

III. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

A. Site Investigation

1. Required survey data is typical topography
info~ation along the centerline of the
proposed and existing pipelines. All survey
info~ation will be gathered utilizing a

6
