3. Current water rights will remain unchanged
and any needed changes to existing water
rights, pe~its, etc. are not necessary for
the completion of this project. The
Colorado Division of Water Resources was
notified of intent to construct a
conveyance pipeline.
4. An existing pipeline will be carefully
investigated for the structural and
perfo~ance adequacy of connecting to the
planned delivery pipeline. It is not
anticipated that many changes will be
needed to the existing system.

II. PROJECT FORMULATION

A. NRCS is under an obligation of the EQIP to
provide technical assistance to the producer in
order to complete the requirements of the water
quality enhancement contract.

B. Alternatives

1. In order to reduce seepage losses from the
delivery ditches, two practical
alternatives existed. One alternative is
to install concrete ditch lining in the
existing ditches to limit the seepage
losses. The other alternative is to
install underground pipe to convey the
water. The concrete ditch is probably more
expensive to install versus the pipe. Also
in order to satisfy the second objective of
utilizing the differential elevation to
provide gravity pressure, the pipeline is
the best alternative. The gravity pipeline
will be installed only to the extent
required to provide adequate gravity
pressure.

5
