t ;.~~ oif.

1994 MASTER PLAN UPDATE
WATER AND SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM

TOWN OF ELIZABETH, COLORADO

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

MeuTer & Associates has prepared an update to the 1988 Water and SanitaTY Sewer
System MasteT Plan for the Town of Elizabeth. In OUT analysis we have incorporated
recent demand data fTom the water and wastewater systems and gTowth data supplied
by the Town's staff. Based on our Teview of the CUTrent and projected demands and
the existing facilities. we have deteTmined that improvements to the wateT supply
system aTe necessary and should be implemented immediately. Our analysis also
indicates that the wastewateT treatment facility has the capacity to tTeat the influent
from the collection system through the projected growth of the study period.

Meurer & Associates recommends that the water system be impToved by constTucting
and equipping a new well with a minimum capacity of 175 gallons per minute. This
additional flow should provide the supply necessaTY to meet the Town's wateT demands
through the study peTiod. However. the Town should consideT equipping the well to
full capacity (approximately 300 gpm). This would allow the existing wells to be used
for backup or stand-by service if the new well is out of service or a greater supply is
required. Once the well has been drilled and the capacity is known. the additional cost
to equip the well to full capacity can be evaluated.

OUT opinion of the cost of this improvement is $583.000. This opinion is preliminaTY
and is based on past expeTience with similaT pTojects and discussions with the Town's
staff. This opinion will be refined once a specific well site and aquifer is selected and
this study is finalized.
