<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 4 - Current Events <br />Flood Protection Section <br /> <br />Chutfield Reser,,"ir Reulloc'llion Stndy: The CWCR and the U.S. AmlY Corps of Engineers <br />(Corps) continue to study the feasibility of reallocating 20,600 acre. feet of flood control storage <br />space to water supply storage space in the reservoir. The current schedule calls for a Record of <br />Decision on the Feasibility RcportlEnvironmcntallmpact Statement in latc 2008. The estimated cost <br />of this project (once approved) is about $100 million. which includes cost of storage, recreation <br />mitigation, and environmental mitigation. <br /> <br />Conntywide IlFIRM l\IallllinJ( l'roJ(ram: As part of a large Stllte-rEMA multi-year initiative, the <br />CWCB is managing the digital mapping program to update and overhaul the aging fleet of regulatory <br />floodplain maps throughout Colorado. Numerous partners continue to utilize federal and non-federal <br />funding to meet the statewide and national goals of the program. <br /> <br />Foontain Creek Watershed GI Stndy: The CWCR has provided funding and continues to <br />participate technically in a large-scale watershed study in partnership with local interests and the <br />Corps. The study goal is to address a multitude of riverine issues along Fountain Creek. <br /> <br />Cherry Creek Reservoir "robable i\I'lXilllnll1 Flood Study: The CWCB is working with the Corps <br />and local interests to complete Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) and Probable Maximum <br />Flood (PMF) studies in the Cherry Creek basin. The goals of the studies arc to reasonably define the <br />"sign flood scenarios for the dam and spillway.
