The Wood Lake Mutual Water and Irrigation Company (WLlC) is applying for a $210,600 loan from
the Severance Tax Trust Fund Perpetual Base Account to replace the existing outlet works and
spillway for Angel Lake. The estimated total cost of the project is $234,000. Please see the
attached Project Data Sheet.

BackQround

The WLlC service area is approximately 2,150 acres in northern Colorado, generally located in
Weld County north of Greeley, between the Towns of Severance and Eaton. The WLlC
facilities were built around the turn of the century, and are located approximately 5 miles west of
Eaton, and 2 miles east of Town of Severance on Weld County Road 74. Facilities consist of
Wood Lake (3,235 AF), Angel Lake (424 ac-ft with refill to 848 ac-ft.), and Meyers Lake (600 ac-
ft.), and approximately 5 miles of unlined ditch and associated structures. Crops include corn,
pinto beans, sugar beets, wheat, barley, oats, alfalfa and grass hay. WLlC receives its storage
water for irrigation through the Larimer & Weld (Eaton) Ditch. Water from Angel Lake can be
run through both Wood Lake and Meyers Lake to irrigate any of the 2,150 acres irrigated by
WLlC, however only 215 acres can be directly irrigated out of Angel Lake.

.

The Angel Lake dam is approximately 2000 feet in length with a crest width of 50 feet (including
roadway) and a maximum structural height of about 16 feet. The dam is located on the south
and east sides of the reservoir with the outlet located on the south side. A portion of the dam is
also the roadway embankment for Weld County Road 74, and the outlet conduit is located in the
roadway embankment. Both the Angel Lake outlet conduit and the spillway conduit are in poor
condition, and need repair or replacement in order to avoid a future State Engineer's Office
(SED) storage restriction. The outlet conduit is an 18-inch diameter clay pipe which has

Flood Protection. Water Supply Planning ~d Finance. Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection.
