Package I - Transmission Pipeline Segment NO.3 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Conveyance System Description <br /> <br />Pumping Stations <br /> <br />The conveyance system will include three pumping stations, located at interim points along the <br />conveyance pipeline. <br /> <br />Pump Station #1 - The City selected the PS-1 site as part of a larger land parcel consisting of about <br />28 acres between the Brighton Ditch and Brantner Ditch north of Highway 7 in Adams County. A <br />United Power substation along Highway 7 is located immediately south of the PS-1 site. Past uses <br />of the site include agriculture, livestock grazing, and open space. The site has an elevation of 4,979 <br />feet above mean sea level. The site will include the pumping station, a forebay, and a storm water <br />detention basin. The site also includes space for a future second raw water pumping station. <br /> <br />Pump Station #2 - The site for PS-2 is west of the E-470 multi-use easement (MUE) between 96th <br />Avenue and 88th Avenue at an elevation of about 5,292 feet above mean sea level. <br /> <br />Pump Station #3 - The 20-acre, City-owned PS-3 site is east of Powhaton Road and south of 1-70, <br />adjacent to the Watkins Trailer Park. The site was confirmed to be suitable for the construction of . <br />PS-3 before it was purchased by the City. In addition to the pump station the site will include a <br />storage reservoir and space for a future second raw water pump station. The site ground elevation <br />is approximately 5,600 feet above mean sea level. <br /> <br />Pipeline <br /> <br />The 33-mile, raw-water pipeline will consist of a 60-inch-diameter flexible steel pipe that will convey <br />raw water from the Pumping Station No. 1 forebay to the new Aurora Reservoir Water Purification <br />Facility (South Campus) in three segments. The pipe will be buried for its entire length, and will <br />include trenchless crossings beneath waterways, wetlands, highways, major arterial streets, <br />railroads and canals as required. <br /> <br />Pipeline Segment NO.1 Alignment - The 9-mile pipeline alignment extends from the PS-1 site at <br />the North Campus aquifer recharge and recovery facilities to the PS-2 site. The alignment lies <br />within the Brighton and Commerce City municipal limits and in Adams County. Land use along the <br />alignment varies from agricultural, planned unit developments, single-family residential <br />developments, medium-density residential developments, and mixed-use areas comprised of <br />commercial, office and open space. Within Commerce City, the pipeline alignment will generally be <br />located within the E-470 MUE, and will traverse through an agricultural area located between 1-76 <br />and Buckley Road to avoid jurisdictional wetland areas adjacent to E-470. <br /> <br />Pipeline Segment No.2 Alignment - The 12.5-mile pipeline corridor from the preliminary site <br />selected for PS-2 to the PS-3 site is mostly undeveloped with some agricultural use, private <br />residences and farmhouses. Segment 2 crosses the City of Aurora municipal limits, Arapahoe <br />County, Commerce City and Denver County. The majority of the Segment 2 alignment is within the . <br />west side MUE of E-470, which will minimize the number of easement acquisitions and streamline . <br />the permitting through one agency. <br />
