Temperature and precipitation data for Lamar and Holly (1950-94, NOAA) and water
supply records (1990, Boyle and 1986-94, Amity) were used. Canal and lateral losses were 27
percent and 9 percent, respectively, and minimum on-farm deep percolation and tail water
losses were 20 percent and 5 percent, respectively, of the farm delivery. As shown in Table 12
the historical consumptive use averaged 43,865 acre-feet annually and ranged from 8,824 acre-
feet in 1964 to 68,749 acre-feet in 1971. Following is a summary of the historical consumptive
use per share and per irrigated acre:

1950-94

Average
Maximum
Minimum

Acre-feet oer share
1.27
1.98
0.25

Acre-feet oer acre
1.13
1.76
0.23

1980-94

Average
Maximum

Minimum

1.50
1.86
1.08

1.33
1.65
0.96

Use as Replacement Supplies. Two shareholders have stated they are interested in selling
their shares to LAWMA. To use this water, LAWMA would establish headgates on the Amity
Canal at or near the headgates used by these shareholders. LAWMA's pro rata interest would
be delivered from LAWMA's headgates through naturally flowing streams to the Arkansas
River. The historical consumptive use portion of such deliveries would be credited to LAWMA's
replacement obligation.

Previously Described Replacement Supplies

In addition to its Highland Canal and Fort Bent Ditch interests described earlier, LAWMA
has several sources of replacement water. These sources were described in detail in the
earlier feasibility report (Helton, 1995). Following is a brief description of each source.

Frvinapan-Arkansas Proiect The Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District
(SECWCD) sells water from the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project for irrigation and municipal
purposes. It also sells the irrigation return flows from this water to the well associations.
SECWCD includes land under the Fort Lyon Canal and Keesee Ditch. LAWMA will purchase
about 2,000 to 3,000 acre-feet annually of return flows to replace depletions caused by its
members' irrigation wells within the SECWCD.

Page 11
